Main Sequence (horse)
Main Sequence was an American Thoroughbred racehorse. Foaled in 2011, he was a chestnut gelding trained by Graham Motion and owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners.
Main Sequence began his career in England, where he was trained by David Lanigan and ran primarily on turf. He showed promise, winning several races, but was also prone to inconsistency.
In 2014, he was transferred to the United States to be trained by Graham Motion. This move proved pivotal to his career. He was gelded prior to the transfer. Under Motion's guidance, Main Sequence experienced a remarkable resurgence.
He had a stellar 2014 season in the United States, winning four Grade 1 races in a row, all on turf: the United Nations Stakes, the Sword Dancer Invitational Stakes, the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Stakes, and the Breeders' Cup Turf. This outstanding performance earned him the Eclipse Award for Champion Male Turf Horse of 2014.
Following his championship season, Main Sequence sustained an injury and was retired from racing in 2015.
