George Millar (singer)
George Millar is a Northern Irish singer, songwriter, and musician, best known as one of the founding members of the Irish folk group, The Irish Rovers. Born in Ballymena, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, Millar emigrated to Canada in the early 1960s, where he co-founded The Irish Rovers with his cousin Ian Millar.
Millar is a key vocalist and instrumentalist for the group, primarily playing the guitar and banjo. He is also a significant songwriter, contributing to many of the band's well-known songs, including the international hit "The Unicorn." Throughout his career with The Irish Rovers, which spans over five decades, Millar has toured extensively, released numerous albums, and contributed significantly to the popularization of Irish folk music worldwide. He continues to perform and record with the band. His songwriting often reflects Irish history, culture, and storytelling traditions.
