Gordon Davies (footballer, born 1955)

Gordon Davies (born 16 October 1955) is a Welsh former professional footballer. He was a prolific striker, best known for his time at Chelsea and Fulham.

Davies began his career at Wrexham, progressing through the youth ranks to make his first-team debut in 1975. He quickly established himself as a regular in the side, scoring regularly and helping Wrexham achieve promotion to the Second Division in 1978.

In 1978, Davies joined Chelsea for a fee of £160,000. He became a popular figure at Stamford Bridge, known for his goalscoring ability and hard work. He was the club's top scorer in the 1979-80 season.

After a spell at Chelsea, Davies moved to Fulham in 1984. He played a crucial role in Fulham's promotion to the Second Division in 1982. He remained a key player for Fulham for several seasons, becoming a firm favourite with the fans.

Davies later played for Manchester City, Shrewsbury Town and Northwich Victoria before retiring from professional football.

He also represented Wales at international level, earning several caps and scoring a number of goals for his country.
