Peter Robbins (actor)

Peter Robbins (born August 10, 1956, died January 18, 2022) was an American child actor best known as the original voice of Charlie Brown in the Peanuts animated television specials and films from 1963 to 1969. His tenure included the iconic specials A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965), Charlie Brown's All Stars! (1966), and It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966).

Beyond his role as Charlie Brown, Robbins also appeared in various television shows and movies during the 1960s and early 1970s, including guest roles in The Munsters, The Donna Reed Show, F Troop, Get Smart, and My Three Sons. He also had a recurring role on Blondie.

Later in life, Robbins struggled with mental health issues, including bipolar disorder, and substance abuse. He was open about his struggles and advocated for mental health awareness. He faced legal troubles related to these issues, including a prison sentence for making criminal threats. His life after his child acting career was marked by these difficulties, contrasting sharply with the optimistic and relatable character he voiced.

Robbins' legacy remains primarily tied to his iconic voice work as Charlie Brown. He provided a relatable vulnerability to the character that resonated with audiences for generations and continues to do so. His voice remains a quintessential part of the Peanuts experience for many.
