Gene Kennedy (politician)
Gene Kennedy (born January 19, 1928, died March 23, 2006) was an American politician who served as a Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He represented District 91 from 1972 until his retirement in 2000. District 91 encompassed portions of Jefferson Parish.
Kennedy was a prominent figure in Louisiana politics for nearly three decades. He was known for his dedication to constituent services and his work on issues related to education, healthcare, and environmental protection. During his tenure, he served on several key committees and played a significant role in shaping legislation impacting the state.
Before entering politics, Kennedy was a businessman. He was a graduate of Tulane University. He was married to Anna Belle "Nanny" Kennedy, and they had several children. Following his retirement from the Louisiana House of Representatives, Kennedy remained active in community affairs.
