Bad as I Wanna Be (album)
Bad as I Wanna Be is the second studio album by American basketball player Shaquille O'Neal, released on October 26, 1993, on Jive Records. The album was released four days after O'Neal made his NBA debut with the Orlando Magic.
The album features guest appearances from several artists, including Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest, Def Jef, Fu-Schnickens, and Ralph Tresvant. Musically, Bad as I Wanna Be continues the hip-hop style established on O'Neal's debut album, Shaq Diesel, with themes revolving around his life as a basketball star, his personality, and boasts about his skills.
While Bad as I Wanna Be did not achieve the same level of commercial success as Shaq Diesel, it still performed respectably, reaching the top 30 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album produced two singles: "Biological Didn't Bother" and "I'm Outstanding."
Critical reception of the album was mixed. Some critics praised O'Neal's charisma and energy, while others found his rapping skills to be lacking and the lyrical content uninspired. Despite the mixed reviews, Bad as I Wanna Be helped to further solidify Shaquille O'Neal's presence in popular culture beyond his basketball career.
