65th Street station (IRT Second Avenue Line)
The 65th Street station was a proposed station on the never-built IRT Second Avenue Line in New York City. It was planned to be located at the intersection of Second Avenue and 65th Street in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. As part of the full-length Second Avenue Subway plan, which was heavily debated and partially constructed throughout the 20th century, this station was intended to provide local service along the line. The station was envisioned as a local stop, meaning it would have served all trains, in contrast to express stations further down the line. Due to funding shortages, political opposition, and various other challenges, the Second Avenue Line was never completed according to the original plans, and the 65th Street station never materialized. The current Second Avenue Subway (Q train) does not extend to 65th Street. The nearest stations are at 72nd Street and 57th Street.
