Mint (band)
Mint was a Canadian indie pop band formed in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1991. The band consisted of Katherina "Kay" Hanley on vocals, guitarist and songwriter Tony Drumm, bassist Michael Phillip Wojewoda, and drummer Jason Brown.
Mint was known for their catchy melodies, upbeat tempos, and Hanley's distinctive vocals. Their music often dealt with themes of relationships, everyday life, and personal experiences, often with a slightly ironic or humorous edge.
The band released three full-length albums: Are You Okay? (1996), Glowstars (1998), and Hit Parade of Love (2000). Are You Okay? is arguably their most commercially successful and critically acclaimed release. They also released several EPs and singles.
Mint toured extensively throughout North America and Europe. They disbanded in 2001. Kay Hanley went on to pursue a solo career and also became known for her voice acting work, particularly as Josie of Josie and the Pussycats. The other members have remained active in various musical projects.
Mint's music has been described as a blend of indie pop, power pop, and alternative rock. They are often cited as an influence by other indie pop bands.
