Artful Dodger (American band)

Artful Dodger was an American rock band formed in Akron, Ohio, in 1973. The band is primarily known for their power pop sound and their self-titled debut album released in 1975, and their follow-up album, "Honor Among Thieves" released in 1976. Both albums featured catchy melodies, tight harmonies, and strong musicianship.

The original lineup consisted of Billy Burnette (vocals, guitar), Jackie Lomax (guitar, vocals), Joey Murcia (guitar), Stan Meissner (keyboards), Bob Carlisle (bass), and Bobby Caldwell (drums). Burnette left the band after the first album, and Lomax took over lead vocals.

While the band enjoyed some regional success and garnered critical acclaim, they never achieved mainstream commercial success. The band went through several lineup changes before eventually disbanding in the late 1970s. Although short-lived, Artful Dodger is remembered and appreciated by fans of power pop and 1970s rock music. Several compilation albums of their work have been released.
