Charles Hunt (artist)
Charles Hunt (1803-1877) was a British genre painter. He is known for his paintings depicting scenes of everyday life, often featuring children and animals in domestic settings. Hunt's work is characterized by its attention to detail, realistic portrayal of figures, and sentimental narratives. He exhibited extensively at the Royal Academy, British Institution, and Society of British Artists. While popular during his lifetime, his work fell out of favor in the later 20th century, but has seen a resurgence of interest in recent years. Examples of his notable paintings include "The Truant Detected," "The Pet Lamb," and "Grandfather's Favourites." He is not to be confused with other artists of the same or similar names.
