Butlerov (crater)

Butlerov is a lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon. It is located to the southeast of the larger crater Backlund, and northwest of Schliemann.

This crater is heavily eroded and somewhat distorted, with a rounded outer rim that has been worn by subsequent impacts. Several small craters lie across the rim and inner walls. The interior floor is relatively level, but marked by a number of tiny craterlets.

Butlerov is named after the Russian chemist Aleksandr Butlerov.
