John Harrison (lawyer)
John Harrison is an American lawyer specializing in constitutional law and related fields. He is currently the James Madison Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Virginia School of Law.
Harrison's academic work focuses on the interpretation of the United States Constitution, particularly the powers of the federal government and the relationship between the federal government and the states. He has written extensively on topics such as federalism, separation of powers, and judicial review.
Prior to joining the University of Virginia, Harrison clerked for Justice Antonin Scalia of the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a graduate of Yale Law School and also holds degrees from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. Harrison is a member of the American Law Institute and a frequent contributor to legal journals and publications. His scholarship is known for its rigorous analysis and attention to historical context.
