Moorhouse (band)
Moorhouse were an Australian indie rock band, active primarily in the late 1980s and early 1990s. They formed in Melbourne and were known for their melodic guitar-based sound, drawing comparisons to bands like The Go-Betweens and The Smiths.
The band's core members consisted of Dave Graney on vocals and guitar, Clare Moore on drums and percussion, and Rod Hayward on guitar. They released several EPs and albums, establishing a devoted following in the Australian independent music scene.
Moorhouse's music often explored themes of suburban life, relationships, and disillusionment, delivered with a wry sense of humour and sharp lyrical observations. While they never achieved mainstream commercial success, they are regarded as an influential act within the Australian indie music landscape of their era. Following the breakup of Moorhouse, Dave Graney and Clare Moore continued to collaborate on numerous musical projects under different band names, solidifying their status as important figures in Australian independent music.
