SWIV 3D
SWIV 3D is a top-down shooter video game developed by Sales Curve Interactive and released in 1996 for the PC (DOS). It's a reimagining of the classic Amiga game SWIV (Special Weapons Interdiction Vehicle), taking the original gameplay and updating it with 3D graphics.
The core gameplay involves controlling a heavily armed vehicle, either a jeep or a helicopter, as it progresses through vertically scrolling levels. The player's objective is to destroy enemy tanks, helicopters, turrets, and other obstacles while avoiding their attacks. Power-ups can be collected to enhance the vehicle's weaponry and provide temporary advantages.
Unlike its 2D predecessor, SWIV 3D utilizes polygonal graphics to create its environments and vehicles. While maintaining the fast-paced action and intense difficulty of the original, the 3D perspective offers a different visual experience. The game features a variety of levels, each with its unique environment and enemy layouts. Cooperative multiplayer is also supported, allowing two players to tackle the game together.
SWIV 3D retains the core mechanics of the original SWIV, including the option to play as either the jeep or the helicopter, each with distinct handling characteristics and weapon loadouts. The gameplay emphasizes quick reflexes and strategic use of weapons to survive the intense onslaught of enemies.
