Brian Avery (activist)

Brian Avery is an American activist and peace worker known for his involvement in international solidarity movements, particularly in Palestine. He has worked extensively with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) in the West Bank. Avery was critically wounded in 2003 while working with the ISM in Jenin, suffering severe facial injuries after being shot by Israeli soldiers. This incident brought international attention to the risks faced by activists working in the region and prompted debates regarding the rules of engagement for the Israeli military. Since his injury, Avery has continued to advocate for Palestinian rights and peace, speaking publicly about his experiences and calling for accountability for the Israeli military’s actions. He has also been involved in other social justice movements and anti-war efforts.
