Moss Vale

Moss Vale is a town in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia, in the Wingecarribee Shire. It is located approximately 135 kilometres south-west of Sydney.

History:

The area was originally inhabited by the Tharawal people. European settlement began in the early 19th century, with the town initially known as Sutton Forest. It was later renamed Moss Vale in 1867, reportedly after Jemima Moss, the wife of a local landowner. The arrival of the railway in 1867 contributed significantly to the town's growth and development, transforming it into a thriving agricultural and commercial center.

Geography and Climate:

Moss Vale is situated at an elevation of approximately 680 metres above sea level. The town experiences a temperate climate with distinct seasons, characterized by warm summers and cool winters. Rainfall is relatively evenly distributed throughout the year.
