U10 (Berlin U-Bahn)
The U10 is a planned, but currently unbuilt, line of the Berlin U-Bahn. Initial plans for a "G line" or Line 10 date back to the early 20th century. The current proposed route would run from the northwestern district of Märkisches Viertel through the city center to the southeastern district of Weißensee or even longer to Falkenberg.
The U10 project has been subject to numerous revisions and postponements due to financial constraints, political changes, and shifting priorities in urban development. Specific sections of the proposed route, particularly in the city center, have been partially constructed or reserved during the building of other U-Bahn lines, like the U5 and U6.
As of 2023, the U10 remains a long-term project with no concrete timeline for construction. The realization of the line would significantly improve connectivity in several underserved areas of Berlin and relieve pressure on existing U-Bahn lines. However, funding challenges and the complexity of building through densely populated areas continue to present major obstacles. The project is a subject of ongoing debate among urban planners, politicians, and residents of Berlin.
