The Wall (2008 TV series)

The Wall is a British daytime television game show that aired on ITV from 2008 to 2009. Hosted by Danny Wallace, the program involved contestants answering general knowledge questions and dropping balls into numbered slots at the bottom of a large, physical wall.

The game was divided into three rounds. In the first round, contestants answered multiple-choice questions, with correct answers allowing them to drop a ball into the wall, accumulating potential cash winnings based on which numbered slot the ball landed in. Incorrect answers caused a red ball to drop, deducting from the potential prize fund.

The second round involved a "Blind Trust" element. One contestant was sent to an isolation booth and answered questions without seeing the wall. Their partner remained on stage and could see the consequences of the answers on the wall but did not know if the answers were correct or incorrect.

The final round was a variation of the previous rounds, with higher stakes and greater potential gains and losses. At the end, the isolated contestant had to decide whether to "Tear Down the Wall" – taking the guaranteed prize that had been accumulated – or "Trust the Wall" – taking the total value of the numbers where the green balls had landed, minus the value of the numbers where the red balls had landed. The choice was made without knowing the actual total amount on the wall.

The Wall distinguished itself with its physical game play involving the large, prominent wall and the element of chance inherent in the ball drops. The show was produced by Endemol UK.
