Beloki
Beloki, in the context of cycling, most commonly refers to Joseba Beloki Dorronsoro (born August 12, 1973), a Spanish former professional cyclist. He was a prominent contender in the Tour de France in the early 2000s, achieving podium finishes in 2000 (3rd place) and 2001 (3rd place).
Beloki's career was significantly impacted by a severe crash during the 2003 Tour de France on the descent of the Côte de la Rochette, which forced him to abandon the race and resulted in serious injuries, including a fractured femur, wrist, and elbow. This crash is a well-known and visually memorable moment in Tour de France history.
Following his recovery, Beloki returned to professional cycling but was never able to recapture the form he had shown prior to the 2003 crash. He retired from professional cycling in 2007. During his career, he rode for teams such as ONCE, Team Telekom, and Euskaltel-Euskadi.
Beyond the cyclist himself, "Beloki" may also infrequently refer to things associated with him, such as race results, team affiliations, or mentions in cycling media coverage. However, the primary association is with Joseba Beloki, the professional cyclist.
