Adarme
An adarme is an archaic Spanish unit of mass, historically used in Spain and Spanish-speaking countries. It is equivalent to one-sixteenth of an ounce (onza), or approximately 1.797 grams. The adarme was primarily employed for measuring small quantities of precious metals, medicines, and spices. While no longer in common usage due to the adoption of the metric system, the adarme remains a part of historical records and literature pertaining to the regions where it was used. Its value could vary slightly depending on the region and the specific application. The adarme is related to the broader system of Spanish customary units of measurement, which predates and was eventually replaced by the metric system.
