Robert Lima (poet)

Robert Lima (born 1939) is an American poet, playwright, translator, literary critic, and scholar specializing in twentieth-century Spanish and Portuguese literature, particularly surrealism and the avant-garde. He is known for his contributions to the study of Federico García Lorca and Ramón del Valle-Inclán, among others.

Lima holds a Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures. He has taught at various universities, including Pennsylvania State University, where he was a professor emeritus of Spanish, Portuguese, and Comparative Literature.

His poetry often explores themes of identity, exile, and the metaphysical, drawing inspiration from his academic interests and personal experiences. Lima's work exhibits a sophisticated use of language and imagery, frequently engaging with surrealist and symbolist aesthetics.
