Driptech
Driptech (now known as Khethworks) was a for-profit social enterprise focused on developing and distributing affordable micro-irrigation systems designed for smallholder farmers in developing countries. Founded in 2009, Driptech aimed to address the challenges of water scarcity and low agricultural yields faced by farmers who lack access to conventional irrigation technologies.
The company’s primary product was a low-cost, high-efficiency drip irrigation system powered by gravity rather than electricity or pumps. This made it accessible to farmers in areas with limited or no access to electricity. The system was designed to be durable, easy to install and maintain, and significantly more affordable than existing irrigation solutions.
Driptech utilized locally sourced materials and manufacturing processes to minimize costs and create local employment opportunities. The company also focused on providing training and support to farmers on the proper use and maintenance of the irrigation systems, as well as on sustainable farming practices.
The organization has since transitioned and rebranded as Khethworks. While the core mission of providing affordable irrigation solutions to smallholder farmers remains, Khethworks focuses on solar-powered irrigation systems designed to further improve efficiency and sustainability, while also increasing the scalability of their impact.
