Pogo Pops
Pogo Pops were a Norwegian pop band formed in Bergen in the late 1980s. They are considered an important part of the Bergen Wave, a movement of indie pop and rock bands emerging from the city. The band consisted primarily of Frank Hammersland (vocals, bass), Viggo Krüger (guitar), and Nicolai Hamre (drums).
Pogo Pops were known for their melodic, guitar-driven pop songs, often characterized by catchy hooks and harmonies. Their music drew comparisons to British indie pop bands such as The Smiths and Aztec Camera. They released several albums throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, achieving considerable success in Norway and garnering attention internationally.
The band's discography includes notable albums such as "Pop Trip" (1992) and "Crash" (1995). Pogo Pops officially disbanded in 2009. Despite their disbandment, their music continues to be appreciated by fans of indie pop. Frank Hammersland has pursued a solo career and other musical projects since the breakup of the band. Pogo Pops are remembered for their contributions to the Norwegian music scene and their role in shaping the Bergen Wave.
