Tom Hanson (American football)

Tom Hanson (born August 2, 1951) is a former American football punter who played in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons.

Hanson played college football at the University of Toledo, where he was a standout punter. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 13th round of the 1973 NFL Draft.

Hanson played for the Saints from 1973 to 1978. He then played for the New England Patriots in 1979. During his NFL career, he averaged 38.8 yards per punt. He retired from professional football after the 1979 season.
