Second Nature (2003 film)

Second Nature is a 2003 American made-for-television romantic comedy-drama film directed by Craig Bolotin. The film stars Alec Baldwin and Powers Boothe.

The plot revolves around a U.S. President, Paul Kane (Alec Baldwin), who, after a plane crash during a trip to the Amazon rainforest, is rescued by a tribe of indigenous people. Kane suffers amnesia and gradually adopts the tribe's lifestyle and beliefs, including their open and honest approach to feelings. Meanwhile, his ruthless and power-hungry Vice President, Will Paxton (Powers Boothe), seizes the opportunity to consolidate his own influence and subtly undermine Kane's authority back in Washington D.C., casting doubt on Kane's mental fitness to lead upon his eventual return.

Upon returning to Washington, President Kane's newfound candor and rejection of political maneuvering clashes sharply with the entrenched political establishment and the machinations of Paxton. He struggles to reconcile his experiences in the rainforest with the demands of his office and the expectations of the American public, leading to humorous and dramatic situations. Ultimately, Kane must decide whether to conform to the old ways of Washington or stay true to his transformed self and challenge the status quo.
