HMS Morpeth Castle (K693)

HMS Morpeth Castle (K693) was a Castle-class corvette of the Royal Navy. She served during World War II, primarily as a convoy escort in the Atlantic.

Morpeth Castle was built by Blyth Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. Ltd., Blyth, and launched on 28 December 1943. She was commissioned on 27 May 1944.

During her service, Morpeth Castle was primarily involved in anti-submarine warfare, protecting merchant convoys from U-boat attacks. She served in various escort groups, helping to ensure the safe passage of vital supplies across the Atlantic.

Following the end of World War II, Morpeth Castle was decommissioned and eventually sold for scrap in 1958. Her service represented a crucial contribution to the Allied war effort, highlighting the important role played by Castle-class corvettes in the Battle of the Atlantic.
