Sodipodi

Sodipodi was an early vector graphics editor, released as free and open-source software under the GNU General Public License. It was a precursor to Inkscape, and development on Sodipodi effectively ceased as developers focused their efforts on the Inkscape project. Sodipodi was notable for its adherence to the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) standard, and it played a role in the early adoption and popularization of SVG as a viable vector graphics format. It ran primarily on Unix-like operating systems, including Linux. The name "Sodipodi" is an alteration of the Finnish word sotku, meaning "mess." One of the key motivations for the creation of Inkscape was to address some of the perceived limitations and design flaws of Sodipodi, leading to a more robust and actively developed vector graphics editor.
