Mikail (son of Seljuk)
Mikail, also spelled Michael in some sources, was the son of Seljuk, the eponymous founder of the Seljuk dynasty. He is a significant figure in the Seljuk family tree, though less well-documented than his father and nephew (Tughril). He played a crucial role in the establishment and early migrations of the Seljuk Turks.
Historical accounts indicate that Mikail was a military leader and a skilled warrior, participating in raids and campaigns that expanded the Seljuk's influence in Central Asia. He is often credited with contributing to the growing military power of the Seljuk clan.
Mikail is known to have had at least two sons: Tughril (also spelled Toghrul or Tughrul Beg) and Chaghri (also spelled Chagri or Chaghri Beg). These two sons became the founders and first rulers of the Great Seljuk Empire, leading the Seljuk Turks to conquer Persia and establish a powerful dynasty that controlled a vast territory. Due to the prominence of his sons, Mikail's legacy is largely tied to their achievements and the empire they built. His contributions paved the way for their later successes. His death is believed to have occurred sometime before the Seljuk migration into Persia, as the leadership primarily rested with Tughril and Chaghri following Seljuk's death.
