Brutto (band)
Brutto is a Belarusian rock band formed in 2014 by Siarhei Mikhalok, former frontman of the band Lyapis Trubetskoy. Created in the wake of Lyapis Trubetskoy's dissolution, Brutto maintains a hard rock and punk rock sound, often incorporating elements of ska and reggae into their music.
Lyrically, Brutto's songs often feature themes of strength, masculinity, and Belarusian patriotism, albeit with a strong anti-establishment and anti-authoritarian undercurrent. The band's visual aesthetic, including their logo and stage attire, draws inspiration from Soviet-era imagery and sporting culture.
Notable members include Siarhei Mikhalok (vocals), Vitaly Hurkov (vocals), and Denis Melnik (guitar). Brutto has released several studio albums and has toured extensively throughout Eastern Europe. The band has faced censorship and performance bans in some countries due to the political nature of their lyrics and their association with anti-government protests.
