Dave Phillips (soccer)
Dave Phillips (born 14 August 1953) is a former professional soccer player who represented Wales internationally. A midfielder, Phillips had a long and successful career in both the United Kingdom and North America.
Phillips began his career with Everton, making his debut in 1972. He also played for Wrexham, Plymouth Argyle, and Exeter City in the English Football League.
In 1978, Phillips moved to North America, joining the Tulsa Roughnecks of the North American Soccer League (NASL). He became a key player for the Roughnecks, helping them win the NASL championship in 1983. He later played for the Vancouver Whitecaps, Seattle Sounders (NASL), and the Montreal Manic in the NASL. After the NASL folded, he also played indoor soccer for various teams in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), including the Tacoma Stars and the Kansas City Comets.
Phillips was a Wales international, earning caps for his country throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. His international career included appearances in World Cup qualifying matches.
After retiring from professional soccer, Phillips remained involved in the sport as a coach and administrator.
