Violence (Nothingface album)
Violence is the third studio album by American alternative metal band Nothingface, released on October 9, 2000, through TVT Records. It marks a significant departure in sound from their earlier work, embracing a more groove-oriented and melodic approach while retaining elements of their nu-metal roots.
The album was produced by Steve Albini, known for his work with bands like Nirvana and Pixies, which contributed to a raw and aggressive sound. Lyrically, Violence explores themes of personal struggle, societal decay, and inner turmoil.
Several singles were released from the album, including "Bleed," which gained moderate radio airplay and helped to broaden Nothingface's audience. "Here Comes the Rain" and "Ether" were also released as singles.
While Violence received mixed reviews upon its release, it is often considered one of Nothingface's most commercially successful and critically acclaimed albums. It solidified the band's place in the alternative metal scene and remains a fan favorite. The album's heavier focus on melody and songwriting helped to distinguish it from many of their contemporaries. After its release, Nothingface toured extensively in support of Violence.
