HMS Seymour (1916)

HMS Seymour was a light cruiser of the Admiralty M-class built for the Royal Navy during World War I. She was one of the later groups of the class, sometimes referred to as the Seymour group.

Seymour was laid down in March 1915 by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company and launched in October 1916. She was completed in April 1917. During her service in World War I, Seymour primarily served with the Grand Fleet. Her duties mainly involved patrolling the North Sea and participating in anti-submarine operations. She did not engage in any major fleet actions.

Following the end of the war, Seymour remained in service with the Royal Navy. She was placed in reserve on several occasions. In the interwar period, she was deployed to various stations, including the Mediterranean.

In 1930, Seymour was decommissioned and subsequently sold for scrap. She was broken up in 1930, bringing an end to her career. She was a relatively unremarkable member of a large class of cruisers, performing routine duties throughout her lifespan.
