WBAL (AM)

WBAL (AM) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Baltimore, Maryland. It broadcasts a news/talk radio format and is owned by Hearst Communications. WBAL's studios and offices are located on Television Hill in the Woodberry neighborhood of Baltimore, adjacent to the studios of sister station WBAL-TV. The station's transmitter is located in Randallstown, Maryland.

WBAL operates on a frequency of 1090 kHz and broadcasts with a power of 50,000 watts, non-directional, during the day. To protect other stations on the same frequency, at night WBAL uses a directional antenna pattern and reduces its power to 5,000 watts. WBAL is one of Baltimore's oldest radio stations, signing on the air on March 29, 1926. It was originally owned by the Consolidated Gas Electric Light and Power Company of Baltimore (now Constellation Energy).
