Skyman (Columbia Comics)

Skyman was a comic book superhero published by Columbia Comics during the Golden Age of Comic Books. Created by Ogden Whitney (possibly in collaboration with Harry Stein), he first appeared in Big Shot Comics #1 (May 1940).

Skyman's alter ego was Milton O'Day, a pacifist artist who designed military weapons, including an experimental rocket suit. After witnessing the destruction caused by his inventions, he vowed to use his suit to fight evil. The suit granted him the ability to fly, invulnerability to bullets, and enhanced strength.

Skyman primarily battled spies, saboteurs, and organized crime figures. His adventures were often set against the backdrop of World War II, reflecting the anxieties and patriotism of the era.

While never achieving the widespread popularity of some of his contemporaries, Skyman remained a consistent presence in Big Shot Comics throughout the 1940s. The character eventually faded into obscurity with the decline of Columbia Comics. He is remembered primarily as a notable, if lesser-known, hero from the Golden Age.
