Francesco Forgione (politician)
Francesco Forgione (born January 24, 1960, in Naples) is an Italian politician. He is known for his work combating organized crime, particularly the Camorra in the Campania region.
Forgione studied sociology at the University of Naples Federico II. He began his political career in the Italian Communist Party (PCI), later transitioning to the Democratic Party of the Left (PDS) and ultimately to the Democratic Party (PD).
He served as President of the Italian Parliamentary Antimafia Commission from 2006 to 2008. In this role, he oversaw investigations into the activities and influence of the Mafia, Camorra, and 'Ndrangheta. His work involved exposing the links between organized crime, politics, and business.
Forgione has also been a Member of Parliament, representing the Campania region. He is a vocal advocate for strengthening anti-mafia laws and promoting ethical governance. He has authored several books and articles on organized crime and its impact on Italian society.
