David Spence (Canadian politician)

David Spence (1867 – 1940) was a Canadian politician. He served as Mayor of the City of Toronto from 1915 to 1916 and was a Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for Toronto Southwest in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1926 to 1934, representing the Conservative Party. Prior to his political career, Spence was a prominent businessman in Toronto, involved in the wholesale grocery trade. As mayor, Spence focused on issues of civic improvement and dealing with the economic strains caused by World War I. He was known for his strong advocacy for temperance.
