Connie (comic strip)
Connie was a syndicated comic strip created by the American cartoonist Frank Godwin. It ran from 1927 to 1944 and again from 1948 to 1957, featuring the adventures of Connie Kurridge, a young flapper-era woman.
The strip initially focused on Connie's escapades in high society and her pursuit of romance. Godwin's art style was known for its elegance and detailed depictions of fashion and settings, reflecting the Roaring Twenties aesthetic. As the strip progressed, particularly after its revival following World War II, the storylines broadened to include elements of adventure and mystery. Connie evolved from a carefree socialite to a more resourceful and independent character, sometimes involved in espionage or other intrigue.
While primarily a humor strip, Connie also incorporated elements of drama and suspense, offering readers a blend of lighthearted entertainment and more serious narratives. The strip was syndicated through several newspaper syndicates, including Ledger Syndicate and later King Features Syndicate, allowing it to reach a wide audience across the United States and beyond.
