Henry Hammel (California businessman)

Henry Hammel (1856 – 1931) was a prominent California businessman and rancher, best known for his partnership with Andrew H. Denker in operating the Hammel & Denker Land Company. This company became one of the largest landholders and agricultural operations in Southern California during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Hammel was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States as a young man. He arrived in Los Angeles during a period of significant growth and opportunity. He partnered with Andrew H. Denker, another German immigrant, and together they acquired vast tracts of land, primarily in what is now Los Angeles County and surrounding areas.
