Koolmotor was a brand of motor oil and lubricants produced and marketed by Atlantic Refining Company, later known as Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO). It was widely available throughout the mid-20th century, particularly in the eastern United States where ARCO had a significant presence. Koolmotor was marketed as a premium product, emphasizing its ability to protect engines under high-stress conditions and maintain engine cleanliness. Advertising campaigns frequently highlighted its resistance to breakdown and its contribution to extended engine life. The brand eventually faded from prominence as ARCO shifted its marketing strategies and other brands gained market share.
