Worldcon

Worldcon, short for World Science Fiction Convention, is an annual science fiction and fantasy convention. It is the primary activity of the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS). The location of Worldcon changes each year, and is chosen by a vote of WSFS members, typically two years in advance.

Worldcon is notable for being the convention at which the Hugo Awards are presented. These awards recognize outstanding achievement in science fiction and fantasy literature, film, and other media. The convention also features a variety of programming, including author readings and signings, panel discussions, workshops, art shows, masquerades (costume contests), and dealers' rooms.

Membership in WSFS is required to attend Worldcon and to vote for the Hugo Awards. Membership is acquired by purchasing an attending or supporting membership for a particular Worldcon. The size of Worldcon varies depending on location and other factors, but typically draws several thousand attendees.

Worldcon is a significant event in the science fiction and fantasy community, offering a place for fans, authors, artists, and other professionals to come together and celebrate the genres.
