Hard to Hold (film)

Hard to Hold is a 1984 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Larry Peerce and starring Rick Springfield and Janet Eilber. The film tells the story of Jamie Roberts (Springfield), a famous but arrogant rock star, and his rocky relationship with Nicky Carr (Eilber), a child guidance counselor.

The film follows Jamie's journey from a self-centered musician to someone capable of genuine connection and commitment. He meets Nicky after a concert in California and immediately pursues her. Nicky, however, is initially resistant to his advances, seeing him as immature and irresponsible.

Throughout the film, Jamie attempts to win Nicky over, often using grand gestures and his celebrity status. He confronts his own flaws and struggles to prove to Nicky that he is capable of change. Nicky, in turn, grapples with her attraction to Jamie and her reservations about his lifestyle. The supporting cast includes Patti Hansen, Bill Mumy, and Albert Salmi.
