Oreca 05

The Oreca 05 is a Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) sports car designed and built by Oreca. It was introduced in 2015 as a successor to the Oreca 03R. The 05 was designed to comply with the then-current ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest) and FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) LMP2 regulations.

The car features a closed-cockpit design, a carbon fiber chassis, and is typically powered by a Gibson GK428 4.2-liter V8 engine, though other engine options were occasionally utilized. It was primarily raced in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Notable successes for the Oreca 05 include victories in its class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and various other endurance races. The car proved popular amongst privateer teams due to its reliability and performance, establishing Oreca as a leading manufacturer in the LMP2 category. The Oreca 05 served as a stepping stone to the highly successful Oreca 07, which followed in 2017.
