Interview (album)
Interview is the eighth studio album by the British progressive rock band Gentle Giant, released in 1976. The album is a concept album that satirizes the band's own experiences with music journalists and the press. The lyrics depict an interview session during which a band, presumably Gentle Giant themselves, is bombarded with superficial and often nonsensical questions from a persistent and ill-informed interviewer.
Musically, Interview features the complex arrangements, intricate counterpoint, and virtuosic instrumentation that Gentle Giant was known for. The album incorporates elements of rock, jazz, classical, and medieval music. Lyrically, the album is satirical and critical of the music industry and the media's role in shaping public perception. Key tracks include "Interview," "Give It Back," and "Design." The album was generally well-received by critics and remains a popular work amongst Gentle Giant fans. The album artwork, designed by Cream, further enhances the satirical nature of the concept.
