George Atkinson (Olympic footballer)
George Atkinson (born in Birkenhead, England, date of birth unknown, died 1970) was an English amateur footballer who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics.
Atkinson was a member of the Great Britain Olympic football team in Berlin in 1936. The team reached the quarter-finals, where they were defeated by Poland. Atkinson played in three of the four matches Great Britain contested, including the loss against Poland. His position on the field was inside forward.
Beyond his Olympic appearance, little documented information is available about his footballing career, including club affiliations. He died in 1970.
