Mikhmoret

Mikhmoret is a kibbutz located in the Hefer Valley in Israel, near the Mediterranean coast. It falls under the jurisdiction of the Hefer Valley Regional Council.

Founded in 1945 by graduates of the Mikveh Israel agricultural school and members of the Gordonia youth movement, Mikhmoret's name is derived from the Hebrew word for fishing net ("mikhmeret"). This alludes to the original intention of the founders to engage in fishing and agriculture, leveraging the proximity to the sea.

Over time, Mikhmoret's economy has diversified beyond its original agricultural focus. While agriculture remains a component, various industries and services contribute to the kibbutz's economic well-being. Residents are typically involved in agriculture, local industry, or work outside of the kibbutz in nearby towns and cities.

Mikhmoret maintains a communal lifestyle, although like many kibbutzim, it has undergone changes in recent decades, adopting elements of a more individualized and less strictly communal system. The kibbutz offers various community services and cultural activities for its residents.

The location of Mikhmoret provides easy access to the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea and is within reasonable distance of major Israeli cities such as Tel Aviv and Haifa.
