Frank Lewis (broadcaster)
Frank Lewis (1927 – 2010) was a Canadian broadcaster best known for hosting the children's television program The Friendly Giant on CBC Television from 1958 to 1985. The show, aimed at preschool children, featured Lewis as the titular giant, who would welcome viewers to his castle. He would play a wooden recorder and tell stories alongside his puppet companions, Rusty the Rooster and Jerome the Giraffe. Lewis's gentle demeanor and the show's simple, imaginative format made The Friendly Giant a beloved and enduring part of Canadian children's television. Beyond The Friendly Giant, Lewis also worked on other CBC productions, including radio dramas and documentaries.
