SIG MCX
The SIG MCX is a family of firearms designed and manufactured by SIG Sauer, Inc. It is characterized as a modular weapon system, intended for a variety of roles and configurations. The MCX operates using a short-stroke gas piston system, which is designed to reduce recoil and improve reliability, especially when suppressed.
Key features of the MCX include its ability to easily change barrels, handguards, and stocks, allowing it to be configured as a pistol, short-barreled rifle (SBR), or rifle. This modularity extends to the caliber, with conversions available for 5.56x45mm NATO, .300 Blackout, and 7.62x39mm, among others.
The MCX has seen adoption by military, law enforcement, and civilian markets. Its compact size and adaptable nature make it suitable for close-quarters combat, special operations, and personal defense.
Notable variants include the MCX Virtus, an updated version with improved ergonomics and internal components, and the MCX Rattler, a very compact version chambered in .300 Blackout, designed for maximum concealability.
