Chris Anderson (writer)

Chris Anderson is a British-American writer, editor, and entrepreneur. He is best known for his 2006 book The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business Is Selling Less of More, which popularized the concept of the "long tail" as a business strategy. This concept argues that products in low demand or with low sales volume can collectively make up a market share that rivals or exceeds the relatively few current bestsellers, but only if the distribution channel is large enough.

Anderson was the editor-in-chief of Wired magazine from 2001 to 2012. During his tenure, Wired won numerous awards and became known for its coverage of technology, science, and culture. Prior to Wired, he worked at The Economist for seven years.

Beyond The Long Tail, Anderson has authored other influential books, including Free: The Future of a Radical Price (2009), which explores the economic models behind "free" digital content, and Makers: The New Industrial Revolution (2012), which examines the rise of the maker movement and the impact of 3D printing and other technologies on manufacturing.

Anderson is also the CEO of 3D Robotics, a drone manufacturing company. He is a strong advocate for open-source hardware and software and has been involved in various initiatives promoting innovation and technological advancement. His work has significantly impacted discussions on business strategy, technology, and the future of media.
