Disarm (band)

Disarm was an Australian hardcore punk band formed in Melbourne in 1982. They are considered one of the pioneering bands of the Australian hardcore scene, known for their fast, aggressive sound and politically charged lyrics.

The band's initial lineup consisted of vocalist Rob "Yogi" Gray, guitarist Alby Thumpston, bassist Paul Boyle, and drummer Steven Cross. They released several EPs and a full-length album, "Social Defect," in 1988. Their music often addressed themes of social injustice, political corruption, and the threat of nuclear war.

Disarm toured extensively throughout Australia and also played internationally. They gained a reputation for their intense live performances and uncompromising political stance. The band went through several lineup changes over the years, with Gray remaining the only constant member.

Disarm disbanded in the early 1990s. However, their music has remained influential within the Australian punk scene and they are often cited as an inspiration by later generations of hardcore bands. Their recordings have been reissued and continue to be appreciated by fans of the genre.
