Joe Torres (baseball)

Joe Torres (born November 29, 1963) is a former Major League Baseball infielder. He played primarily second base and shortstop.

Torres was drafted by the California Angels in the 1st round (15th overall) of the 1981 MLB June Amateur Draft. He made his major league debut with the Angels on April 7, 1986, and played for them until 1988. In 1989, he was traded to the San Francisco Giants, where he played until 1991. His final season in the majors was in 1992 with the Seattle Mariners.

During his career, Torres was known more for his defensive abilities than his offensive production. He was generally regarded as a solid, dependable player with good fielding skills. He retired from professional baseball following the 1992 season.
